We are seeking a Technical Writer/User Assistance Developer to join our team in Baden.

The role will have responsibility to create, develop, plan, write and edit Varian User Assistance for paper, multimedia, or web-based publication. It also includes creating documentation content in DITA compliant format using the company Content Management System (CMS).

Our  team is responsible for creating, maintaining, and localizing user assistance documentation in English for hardware and software products at Varian, A Siemens Healthineers Company. We take care of instructions for use, reference, safety, and administration guides, application help systems, and other user-facing documentation.

Overview:

  • Create, develop, plan, write, and edits operational, instructional, maintenance or test procedures for print, multimedia, or web-based publication.
  • Conduct interviews with various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation.
  • Research and translate technical information into manuals and/or web-based documents for nontechnical and technical users. May document engineering processes and specifications.
  • Recommend formats responsive to technical and customer requirements.
  • Produce publications that conform to the company documentation and quality assurance standards.
  • Coordinate work and deliverables with Project Management and follow company processes.
  • Resolve a wide range of documentation questions effectively by evaluating identifiable factors.

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in technical writing, linguistics, translation, communications, psychology, or usability engineering & 3 years related experience.
  • Fluent written and spoken English essential.
  • Knowledge of DITA and content management systems; familiarity with multimedia and technical documentation formats.
  • General understanding and competence with Windows-based computers and MS Office.
  • Familiarity with electronic publishing, and graphics applications.
  • Information design & writing discipline.
  • Strong organizational skills & interpersonal skills
  • Experience or great interest working in the medical domain.
  • Experience working in regulatory environments a plus.
