Nestled between Aarau and Brugg and visible for miles around, Wildegg Castle was built by the Habsburgs in the first half of the 13th century. The baroque working farm and pleasure gardens are located on a terrace in the middle of vineyards and are home to nearly 300 ancient crop varieties
Visitors are greeted by the lords and ladies of the manor in the ancestral gallery. Former castle inhabitants provide a short entertaining and informative insight into the history of the castle all the way from the Middle Ages to the 20th century.
The large residence with farmyard, aviary, park, gardens and forest has essentially been preserved intact and is today a cultural amenity of national importance. The castle apartments and work rooms are furnished in their original style. They show the aristocratic lifestyle and exquisite taste of the Effinger family, owners of the property from 1483 to 1912. Visitors will find the finest furniture and paintings, stoves and hand-painted wallpaper, clocks and lamps, porcelain and weapons from various eras.

The gardens change with the seasons, are an oasis of peace and are the ideal place for a stroll to enjoy the intoxicating fragrances and marvel at the surroundings. The rose garden is home to many historical varieties and different floribunda roses.

Wedding
Wildegg Castle offers a majestic backdrop for a special kind of wedding. The castle is perched high on a hill and is surrounded by impressive gardens. From the venerable wedding room, there is an unobstructed view of nearby Lenzburg Castle. In the castle courtyard and on the terrace under lime trees, you can enjoy aperitifs on a small scale or throw a festive party. The rustic castle rooms can accommodate up to 70 people.
